A man in Texas paid a bucketload of money for a guitar bearing Taylor Swift’s autograph, only to smash it into pieces. TMZ reported that the guitar was put up for auction at the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner near Dallas, Texas on Sunday night.
It was donated to the auction by a third party. The organisation also has a certificate of authenticity confirming that Taylor did sign the instrument.
The viral video shows a man with white hair holding a hammer and smashing it into the guitar with no mercy. He seems to be enjoying the act as the video shows him laughing and completely immersed in the moment. At one point it looked like he would smash into the ground, but the host stopped him before further destruction happened at the site.
Not just Swifties, but everyone is having a hard time wrapping their heads around the reason behind the demolition. What’s even more shocking is that the man paid a whopping $4,000 for the autographed guitar.
Netizens are confused to see the man hammering the guitar after spending that kind of amount on it.
Some people think that his anger for a Taylor Swift memorabilia might be tied to political reasons. The singer recently endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential elections.
However, Ellis County Wild Game Dinner organisation, clarified to TMZ that the guitar was donated to the auction before Taylor Swift endorsed Harris.
This non-profit organisation supports agricultural education for local youth.
Notably, Swift publicly endorsed Harris after the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and the Democrat. Taking to Instagram, the singer wrote, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
Elaborating on the reasons for her decision, she wrote, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not.”
The US presidential elections are due to take place on November 5.
