Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar are one of the coolest couples in Tinsel Town. Married since 2001, the couple are known for their sweet and funny bond.
In her recent column for an Indian news portal Times of India, the actress shared a funny incident from their vacation and how she advised Akshay to eat poisonous grass if she dies first.
Recalling the instance, Twinkle said that during their recent trip, their tour guide told them about a pair of birds, who are so devoted to each other that if one dies, the other ends its life by eating poisonous grass.
”Driving back to camp that evening, the guide pointed out a pair of birds called tik-tik who are so devoted to each other that when one dies, the other sometimes kills itself by eating poisonous grass. I told my husband (Akshay), ‘Acha (listen), if I die first, you better eat poisonous grass too’,” Twinkle wrote.
Warning her husband, she said, ”If I see your second wife walking around with my handbags, I promise I will come and haunt you both.”
What’s more hilarious was Akshay’s reply. In her blog, she wrote, “He shook his head and replied, ‘I want to eat that poisonous grass right now, at least then I won’t have to listen to all this nonsense.’ Then he swatted a mosquito on my arm, the human equivalent of baboons delousing each other. We continued engaging in the complex choreography of cooperation, affection and mutual tolerance as our jeep raced against the setting sun.”
Akshay in his recent interview talked about how different he and his wife are from each other. But, what binds them together is their, ‘mutual respect.’
In a recent conversation with Galataa India, the Khel Khel Main actor said that “respect” and “giving space to each other” are the most important things.
He added, “Me and my wife are very different. We’re poles apart. She thinks left, I think right. It’s completely different. Only thing which is common is we like to sleep early, and we like to wake up early. There is another thing which we like is playing Rugby or Ludo. Rest of the things we think completely different.”
