A sweater that Matthew Perry wore during the shooting of the popular sitcom Friends is headed to auction. Several other props and costumes will also be auctioned off to commemorate the show’s 30th anniversary.
The auction is scheduled for September 23. Perry’s sweater is the most popular item in the auction. It is made of 100 per cent cashmere and features two buttons on the front.
“The teal, 100% cashmere, polo-style sweater features long sleeves and a two-button front closure. Labeled ‘Autumn Cashmere. Size L.’” reads the lot description.
For those unaware, Perry wore this sweater in Season 7, Episode 10 titled “The One With The Holiday Armadillo”. He is seen at Central Perk where Monica tells him that she won’t be changing her last name to Bing. Then he is seen wearing it again when Phoebe brings her late mother’s Christmas candy dish — a human skull — for the gang’s holiday party.
“Each item in this 30th-anniversary collection is a tangible connection to the magic of ‘Friends,’ one of the most beloved shows in TV history that shaped a generation and made us laugh, cry, and feel like we were part of the ‘Friends’ gang,” said Darren Julien, executive director and co-founder of Julien’s Auctions, according to New York Post.
Perry died of an overdose on October 28 last year. His physician and drug dealer were arrested earlier in August.
